[It really doesn't take Tadokoro long at all to find Makishima, and were he not used to his friend's outlandish fashion, he would've been pretty concerned. But instead he just smiles, feeling comfortably underdressed in just a navy button-up, and slides into a seat across from Makishima.]
No, it's fine. It hasn't been that long. I haven't ordered anything.
[Other than a glass of water which is still mostly full. He'd figured it'd be more polite to wait for Tadokoro to arrive, even though it had been tempting to request some spring rolls to start off with.
Makishima takes one of the two menus from his side of the table and hands it to Tadokoro.]
[Tadokoro nods, grinning as he takes the menu. This place is delicious, and he's already prepared to order two entrees... Well. He wants to.
He'll ask in a minute, after they order; after all, he figures they'll get themselves distracted right in their conversation, they may as well wait until they get their food.]
You okay if I brought my appetite? [And he laughs.]
[Makishima keeps his own menu off to the side, meaning he already has his own order prepared. He doesn't exactly eat a lot anyway so there's no need to take a longer glance at it. Unlike Tadokoro. His comment makes him smile his usual crooked grin.]
I'd be worried if you didn't. [You'd think it was the end of the world if Tadokoro ever declined food.]
[Tadokoro has to laugh at that, and goes right for picking out his entrees. It's not like money is exactly difficult to come by here, but Makishima has also been the friend who stocks up the fridge for Tadokoro, so he doesn't feel bad at all over the idea of ordering two meals. He'll eat enough for Makishima.]
[Tadokoro would eat enough for Makishima for an entire week. Please don't though.]
Everything I've tried is good. Usually I get the wonton noodles or the little pot rice with spring rolls. [It's at that moment that a waitress finally comes by to their table, and apparently she recognizes Makishima immediately. She repeats the same exact order that he'd just told Tadokoro, causing Makishima to smile sheepishly.]
[The same? It has Tadokoro looking up at the menu before he just smiles, and orders both wonton noodles and a double order of spring rolls. As you can see, he's actually attempting to be a tiny bit healthier. Sort of.
He's been reading the book Izumida got him.
Tadokoro waits until the waitress leaves before he crosses his arms on the table and leans forward.]
[Wow, Makishima's actually impressed. Now he doesn't have to get Tadokoro to ride with him after their meal in order to burn off the excess calories. He gives the waitress a crooked smile as he gives her his menu and waits for her to leave before turning to Tadokoro, but seeing as he's the one to begin the conversation, he's thrown off just a little.
Not much though. He raises a droopy eyebrow before sighing heavily.]
Don't just tell me "so". Considering what that bean of yours just did on the network you should know exactly what it is I want to talk about.
[How kind, Makishima, letting him bike the straights that he's good at. But he lets Makishima initiate, taken aback only for a second before he just laughs. He lifts an arm, waving it uselessly.]
Yeah, yeah. It's nothing that big, y'know. High schoolers burn their energy off plenty of ways.
We don't even know if there's any actual attraction involved. Naruko's more interested in telling the public he got laid than saying he could be dating. I don't mind if they want to be together, but this is a bad way to start it. [Makishima buries his face in his hands. He doesn't expect much intelligence that goes into what Naruko does but Imaizumi is involved, he should know better than to get involved in a one night stand and expect it to just develop into a healthy relationship.]
Then you'd have to break up with your boy-toy too, y'know.
C'mon, Makishima. This is Naruko and Imaizumi we're talkin' about. [He just smiles, before taking a sip of his water. It's ridiculous, but he doesn't fully fault the kid.] I don't think he means bad, even with the bragging. He probably did it just to show off.
I said within the team. I'm safe. [Makishima actually says nothing about the nickname as he secretly kind of likes it. Though he does happen to mumble the last part, mostly because he know Tadokoro has beaten him there.] ...I was only joking anyway.
[He knows it'd be a ridiculous set of rules to put down. The only reason he considered it is just because he's in such a panic over the state of their underclassmen. Teshima and Aoyagi's issues, while more private, are even worse than what's going on with Naruko and Imaizumi... whatever you could even call it.]
Imaizumi's killed him by this point then, probably. I didn't even think he was capable of liking anyone seriously.
[Something comes out of Makishima's mouth that's like a shout and a laugh, and he has to cower down into his seat for a second when he realizes he caught the attention of a few other people in the restaurant. He murmurs a quick apology and turns his head away from them so he can mainly just look at Tadokoro, holding up a hand against the side of his face to shield his embarrassment.]
No one would be okay if anyone dated that guy. I don't even think he understands what dating is.
[Which is probably not true. Manami's surprisingly smart even though he appears air-headed. But there's no way he'd be the sort to date.... or the better thing to say would be no one is the sort to date Manami. He's. Special.
As the conversation shifts back toward him, Makishima frowns and reaches for his drink to take a quick sip.]
Shut up, I've liked people. I've just never been obvious about it.
[That makes Tadokoro grin more, though he ducks his own head to try and muffle his laughter. His friend is great, so very great.]
He probably doesn't, but who knows? The kid's full of surprises sometimes.
[He really can't picture him dating anyone, much less being romantic. Manami's always struck him as the whimsical type anyway. But as he hears of Makishima's crushes, he leans forward, a curious smirk on his face.]
Really now... Like who, outside of those pretty celebrities from your magazines?
[God Tadokoro shut up. Can they please go back to talking about Manami's nightmare of a possible love life??]
I didn't invite you here to talk about that--! [Makishima hisses lowly, but he's not remotely threatening with the flush of color spreading over his face. He turns his head away, fingers tangling into his hair almost like he's trying to use it to shield himself. This is so goddamn embarrassing, and the fact that he can't mention any of his favorite gravure idols makes things even worse. Obviously there's been a handful he's been attracted to, had some hopeless crushes on one or two of his favorites, but actual people? Makishima's terrible with real people.
He hunches over, curling over the table as he mumbles quietly.]

[He's amazing, admit it.]

No just kidding ilu my big teddy bear.
Fifteen minutes later Tadokoro will get one more text:]
i'm inside
[When Tadokoro gets there it won't be difficult to find Makishima at all.]
that is disgusting and I hope you feel bad
Yo. Sorry if I kept you waitin'.
don't tell me how to live my life
[Other than a glass of water which is still mostly full. He'd figured it'd be more polite to wait for Tadokoro to arrive, even though it had been tempting to request some spring rolls to start off with.
Makishima takes one of the two menus from his side of the table and hands it to Tadokoro.]
I WILL IF I WANNA
He'll ask in a minute, after they order; after all, he figures they'll get themselves distracted right in their conversation, they may as well wait until they get their food.]
You okay if I brought my appetite? [And he laughs.]
YOU'RE NOT MY MOM
I'd be worried if you didn't. [You'd think it was the end of the world if Tadokoro ever declined food.]
/SLAPS YOUR HAND
What's good here...?
wehhhhh
Everything I've tried is good. Usually I get the wonton noodles or the little pot rice with spring rolls. [It's at that moment that a waitress finally comes by to their table, and apparently she recognizes Makishima immediately. She repeats the same exact order that he'd just told Tadokoro, causing Makishima to smile sheepishly.]
Y-yeah, the same today.
[It's pretty obvious he's a regular.]

[He's supported of tiny bean. It's terrible.]

He did things with Imaizumi.
no subject
Now that surprised me. But I guess it's like... opposites attract or somethin' like that?
[Looking on the bright side, yes he is. He crosses his arms.] They moved real fast, though. Here I was expectin' hand-holding at best, but... damn.

[He knows, he knows. But he wanted to give you a hard time anyway. Their team is kind of a mess right now.]
Probably, yeah. That's okay. Darwinism. But... y'know, we could almost say the same about you. I would've believed it if I hadn't seen it first hand.
